ABOUT

About Leah Ashley

Leah Drabek is an American yoga teacher who’s passionate about movement.  She enjoys taking an individualized approach in her teaching by tailoring her classes to assist with general to chronic stress, coping with, managing and recovering from injuries - both mental and physical.

Leah specializes in Vinyasa Flow and Power Flow, but is trained in and equally enjoys teaching Prenatal Yoga, Kids Yoga, YinYang, Restorative, Yin Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation.  Leah is also a Certified Reiki  Practitioner, a type of energy healing.  She believes that so many of us need to balance our busy and fast-paced lifestyles with something else.  Mindfulness, meditation and restorative/yin yoga are very important to remind us and allow us to slow down.  Leah strongly emphasizes pranayama (breath control) in each of her classes to allow students to connect to their bodies and the present moment, finding a moving meditation in connecting the mind, body and spirit.

Leah has an extensive background in dance, which allows her to sequence with strength, anatomical intelligence and creativity.  Although she partook in yoga on and off throughout her life, yoga found Leah as she was suffering from an extensive groin injury from dancing; it saved her mentally and spiritually through a time of struggle and desperation.

“Yoga has allowed me to express myself in a different and introspectively challenging way; it took me to an edge similar to the one I found through ballet. While the physical element was what first drew me to the mat, the mental and spiritual benefits of yoga kept me coming back to the mat time and time again. I’ve battled Depression on and off throughout my life. I’ve battled body image issues for my whole life. Living an extremely fast-paced lifestyle for most of my adult life brought me to burnout after burnout and, as a result, anxiety (which I still experience today).  My life revolves around my recovery. My journey. The ebbs and flows of life. The valleys and peaks.  While I didn’t use to believe I could ever rise out of my deepest valleys, I now know that if we keep going one breath at a time we will always rise again and grow even stronger.  I have learned how important it is to take the time for ourselves to check in, slow down, breathe and just be.  As we are.  Stress kills.  We are not invincible.” - Leah Ashley Drabek

From Boston, MA - to Perth, Western Australia - to Northampton, MA - wherever in the world she goes, Leah shares her passion for life, love and yoga with communities on and off the mat.
